Common Questions

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is a gentle practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. This can help alleviate pain, enhance mood, and promote overall wellness. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, ensuring a calming and restorative experience.

Holistic healing considers the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. By addressing the root causes of issues rather than just symptoms, we support your natural healing process. This approach often includes therapies like acupuncture, nutrition, and mindfulness practices.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

Call for your first appointment and you will be walked you through the process. You'll complete intake forms before your visit so you can arrive fully prepared.

Your first session includes a thorough intake conversation covering your health history, current concerns, and overall constitution. Treatment is tailored to you from the very first visit. Plan for about 90 minutes, with follow-up sessions typically running 60 minutes.
Come with something in your stomach and avoid caffeine right before your appointment. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing so needles can be easily accessed on your arms and legs. Try to arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in before your session begins.
Most people leave feeling deeply relaxed, sometimes even a little floaty. It's common to sleep especially well the night after a treatment. Occasionally a short period of fatigue or mild soreness occurs as the body integrates the work, which passes quickly.

TREATMENT

Most people are genuinely surprised by how little they feel. The needles are extremely fine, much thinner than a hypodermic needle, and insertion is usually painless. You may notice a mild ache, warmth, or tingling at the needle site, which is a welcome sign that qi is moving.

It depends on what you're addressing. Acute conditions often respond within a few sessions. Chronic or longstanding issues generally benefit from a series of treatments over several weeks. Your practitioner will offer a clear recommendation after your intake, and that plan will evolve as you do.

Each session typically lasts about  60 to 90 minutes, but I will ensure we allocate enough time to address your needs thoroughly and provide a soothing experience.

Acupuncture supports a wide range of concerns, including pain, stress, anxiety, digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, and immune health. If you're unsure whether it's the right fit for your situation, reach out and ask. We're happy to talk through it with you.

SAFETY

Yes. When practiced by a licensed acupuncturist using sterile, single-use needles, acupuncture is very safe. Side effects are rare and typically minor, such as light bruising or temporary tenderness at a needle site.

Certain situations call for extra care, including active bleeding disorders, pacemaker use, and the first trimester of pregnancy. Always let your practitioner know about any medications, implants, or health conditions before your first session so treatment can be adapted appropriately. Consult with your doctor before starting acupuncture if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

Acupuncture works well alongside conventional medical care and most medications. It's not a replacement for your existing treatment plan, but a complement to it. Share a full picture of your health with your practitioner so the work can be coordinated thoughtfully. Consult with your doctor before starting acupuncture if you are taking any medication.

PREGNANCY & FERTILITY

Yes, with the right approach. Acupuncture can be a wonderful support throughout pregnancy, addressing nausea, back pain, swelling, sleep, and emotional wellbeing. Treatment is adapted at select stages to ensure both mother and baby are safe and comfortable. Consult with your doctor before starting acupuncture.

Acupuncture is used by many people as part of a broader fertility support plan, including those undergoing IVF or other assisted reproductive treatments. It can help regulate cycles, reduce stress, and support overall reproductive health. Your practitioner will work with you based on where you are in your journey.

PRICING & INSURANCE

Insurance is not accepted, but special pricing can be discussed during consultation to accommodate for those in need.

Cancellations must be made no sooner than 24 hours before your appointment, or a cancellation fee of $50 will be imposed.
